Services We Offer
Services include preparation, media blasting along with a wide range of powder coating products. All of our work is done in our shop in Wakefield, NH. Our media blasting room is 30'x20'x9' and we are able to accomodate larger pieces. We use Sponge aluminum oxide and grit for media blasting substrates.
Powder Coating is a cost effective and environmentally friendly alternative to wet spray painting on most metal substrates. It is available in hundreds of colors and textures, candies, hammer tones, wrinkles and special effect finishes that are not available in standard wet spray application.
Powder Coat comes in different chemistries such as Urethane, Polyester, Vinyl, Epoxy and Hybrids (combinations) of those chemistries mentioned. Each of the chemistries has properties that can be recommended for certain types of use, such as Urethanes for items that will be used out of doors or Epoxies that would be used on items that may be exposed to oil products.
The coating comes in powder form (much like talcum powder in consistency) in the 20 to 40 micron size and is 99.9% solids no harmful solvents. The powder is applied to the metal substrate with special application equipment where the particles of powder are charged with negative ions which attract to a grounded part. The part is then cured in an industrial oven at 400º F +/- (depending on the chemistry of the powder) for 10 to 30 minutes (depending on the mass of the metal part). Once the powder starts to heat it then melts, flows, cross links and bonds to the metal at a molecular level due to the pores on the metal substrates that expand when heated. When fully cured, the powder is superior to wet spray in hardness, chemical resistance and impact resistance.
